What type of personal injury matters do you handle?
We accept serious personal injury matters on a selective basis. Firm shareholder Marcus Castillo has significant experience in this practice area including jury trials and appeals. His practice experience has included automobile negligence, premises liability and product liability cases.
Does the firm prefer handling certain types of personal injury cases?
Yes. We are particularly interested in premises liability cases. Premises liability cases involve injuries caused by a condition on someone’s property. Most think of fall down injury cases and this is indeed the most common type of case. Another type of premises liability case we have successfully handled involves criminal attacks or sexual assaults that could have been prevented if a third person had not acted negligently. For instance, failure to provide adequate security in light of prior criminal attacks is a common theme in such cases.
How do you charge for handling personal injury cases?
Personal injury cases are handled by the firm on a contingency (percentage of recovery) basis. The firm typically advances the costs of handling the case such as filing fees and court reporter fees and recoups these advances out of the ultimate recovery in the case.
